Major international contract in the Republic of Kazakhstan
5C-Tech GmbH has secured a major international contract in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
5C-Tech will provide welding services for the construction of the second line of the strategically important Beineu–Bozoy–Shymkent (BBS-2) gas pipeline. Over the course of the project, which is expected to last around eight months, more than 28,000 welds will be carried out on pipes with a diameter of 42 inches.
The gas pipeline, which is around 1,450 kilometres long, is one of Kazakhstan’s most important energy infrastructure projects. The addition of a second pipeline will double the annual transport capacity from the current level of around 15 billion cubic metres of natural gas to up to 30 billion cubic metres. The project thus makes a significant contribution to security of supply in the south of the country, whilst also strengthening export capacity to China.
